Tommy's innocence has been proven time and time again yet he has lingered on death row for more than 30 years now. I'm so assured of Tommy's innocence that I would trade places with him in a minute. Tommy's case has been fraught with errors, racism and judicial misconduct since day one. The judge, Maurice Paul, who sentenced Tommy to death against the recommendation of the jury had been involved in another case in which Tommy had testified against a friend of the judge's shortly before the crime for which Tommy was sentenced to death for! All Tommy, a white man, had done was testify for a black man in Florida in the 1970s. This did not sit well with the black man's white accusers. Judge Paul has gone on to become a federal judge so Tommy still sits on death row with no way out due to the influence Judge Paul has over his peers. There is NO WAY Tommy could have gotten a fair trial when the major players were people who had a bone to pick with him! DNA tests have proven time and time again that Tommy is innocent.
